Sarpaneva Korona K0 Northern Lights

Stepan Sarpaneva unveiled the Korona K0 Northern Lights collection at the Basel fair in 2015. Models were based on the Korona K0 steel sports watch, featuring a substantial, but at same time surprisingly easy to wear 46 mm case.

Northern Lights Limited Edition was inspired by the naturally occurring lights seen at high altitudes in the northern hemisphere. Collection comprised three watches, Green, Blue and Purple, each distinguished by a different dial colour.

All models feature a steel case and an openworked, DLC-coated dial. Beneath the steel dial grid is a separate lume plate, made from a composite material developed by Black Badger Advanced Composites with the assistance of Canadian company Ambient Glow Technology, specifically for use in Sarpaneva watches. Lume plate sits beneath the DLC-coated steel upper layer of the dial, while hour markers are applied to the top layer. Lume glows green across all three dial colour variants.

At 6 o’clock is Sarpaneva’s familiar moonphase complication. Moon face is executed in either white or red gold, with both included on the rotating disc. Powering the watch is a highly modified Soprod A10 automatic movement.

Each colour variant was limited to eight pieces, as indicated by the caseback marking “One of the Eight”.

Present example features a Blue DLC-coated dial with matching blue hands. Watch was fully serviced at the Sarpaneva workshop in 2023 and performed very well in our recent tests.

Watch is delivered with its original Sarpaneva wooden box and with two original Sarpaneva leather straps. No original papers.
